State Rep. Bob Merski is hosting a license place event with the Erie Police Department on Saturday, October 12 to help motorists learn whether they need a new license plate.

Organizers will also assist motorists with the application for a new license plate if theirs is deemed illegible.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the JoAnna Connell school.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), a license plate is deemed illegible and in need of replacement when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 ft. away, or if the plate is blistered, peeling, discolored or loses reflectivity.
