City of Erie Police are encouraging anyone who is not attending Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign rally at the Erie Insurance Arena on Monday to avoid the area near the arena.
The rally is scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m.
Police said drivers should consider alternate routes between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. due to heavier than usual traffic, anticipated delays and sudden road closures.
French St. from 7th to 10th, 8th St. from French to Holland, and Holland St. from 7th to 10th will be closed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Anyone who plans to attend the rally is asked to arrive no later than 5 p.m. Monday.
Enhanced security measures will be in place, according to police. Officers will be patrolling the area by vehicle, on foot and on bicycles.
City of Erie Police officials said they are working closely with the U.S. Secret Service, state and local law enforcement partners and PennDOT to minimize disruptions and maintain security.
Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA) said the bus shelters at 7th and French will be closed from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
There will also be no EMTA service on French St. from 4th to 10th St. during that time.
Passengers are asked to use 12th & State and use the myStop app to track their buses.
