UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital Expands Doula Program

Women who plan to give birth at UPMC Magee-Women's in Erie, and are patients of UPMC Specialty Care Services, can now be supported by a doula for their birth experience.

A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical and informational support to pregnant clients, before during, and after childbirth.

The benefits of using a doula can include increased rates of breastfeeding, higher satisfaction with the birth experience, and decreased postpartum depression.
