National Red Ribbon Week is underway, and students at Beaty-Warren Middle School kicked off the celebration with a pajama day, themed “Dreams Not Drugs.”

Thursday morning, students decorated the sidewalks in front of the school with positive messages for their peers and the community. Red Ribbon Week, which began in 1985, promotes activities that encourage young people to live drug-free.

“Our students really take advantage of these fun activities and enjoy doing them and showing their school spirit,” said Dr. Dosser, Beaty-Warren School Principal.

“I am a strong believer in participation," said Mrs. Blasco, a math teacher at Beaty-Warren. "So, if you are participating in things at your school, you feel more a part of the community, and when you feel more tied to a good and positive community, then you might make better choices down the road."

"Our students really do enjoy these activities, and it's great to see them get involved," stated Mrs. Wagner, Assistant Principal.

Eighth-grader Emma also shared, “Staying drug-free means investing in your health.”

Red Ribbon Week will continue into next week across the Warren County School District, with students encouraged to wear red, dress up as their favorite movie characters, and take part in community activities, all aimed at promoting good choices and a healthy lifestyle.
