Halloween Safety
Ahead of Halloween, plenty of trunk or treat events and Halloween gatherings are taking place. It’s important that divers be on the lookout for kids in costumes.
"Be mindful of the extra foot traffic on the road, whether it’s children. A lot of times kids want to have the best costumes. So, they want to be in their dark, scary clothes. So, make sure that you’re being extra cautious, so you see kids that are out there,” Patrolman at Millcreek Police Department Tony Brocklehurst said.
Brokclehurst said for those walking, making sure to be visible is important.
“That goes the other way around. If you’re a child or parent, make sure that your children are visible, whether they are carrying a flashlight or wearing something that is brightly colored clothing or something reflective,” Brocklehurst said.
For Adults celebrating Halloween and are planning to drink on the holiday, Brocklehurst says people want to be smart about how they’re getting home. Brocklehurst said there are plenty of ridesharing companies that people can use, and people should also be careful about how much they consume.
"Obviously, just don’t get excessive when it comes to big gatherings. Make sure you’re not drinking excessively, and make sure you’re being mindful of your neighbors,” Brocklehurst said.
