The YMCA of Greater Erie will be hosting its annual Senior Health & Wellness Fair on Friday, November 1.
The event will be held at the Eastside Family YMCA from 9-11:30 a.m. in Gyms 1 and 2.
During the event, vendors from across the area will be on hand to provide health screenings and information on a variety of topics.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in posture screenings, foot analysis, and balance screenings, as well as learn more about utility payment assistance, state services for seniors, senior housing, home healthcare, volunteer opportunities and more.
Additionally, Car Fit inspections will be available by appointment. The inspections will come with free gifts to help with accessibility into cars. To schedule an appointment call 814-899-9622.
A local spa will also be in attendance with a massage table.
The event is free and open to the public. The Senior Health & Wellness Fair will also give attendees a chance to win a Fitbit Versa 3.
There will also be a basket raffle going on all week. Prizes include another Fitbit Versa 3, two hours of decluttering services from Erie Organizing, and two hours of handyman work from Fixed Home Handyman Services. Raffle tickets are $5 per sheet.
Organizers say the drawing will be held after the event concludes at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
"Many seniors find social connection and support at the Y, building friendships that are beneficial to mental health and well-being,” says Karen McLellan, Member Engagement Director for the Eastside Y and the event’s coordinator. “We offer group access to programs like concerts, bus trips, and sporting events that they might not otherwise feel comfortable attending.”
