Republican VP Candidate JD Vance to Discuss Veterans Advocacy in Pennsylvania Town Hall

BEDFORD, PA- Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance will hold a town hall in battleground Pennsylvania. We expect the Senator to focus on issues relating to veterans.

Vance is a Marine veteran who served in Iraq and will be joined by former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who is also a veteran. We’re expecting to hear Vance discuss improvements to the Veterans Administration and health care for veterans while also referencing former President Donald Trump’s track record when it comes to veterans. Trump’s campaign is touting his VA Missions Act, which expands care options and benefits for veterans as well as the “PREVENTS Task Force”. That task force included a 2020 initiative by Congressman Jack Bergman (R- MI) aiming to end veteran suicide.

With roughly 800-thousand veterans, Pennsylvania has the fourth-largest veteran population in the country. About three-quarters of them are 55 and older, so veteran care is certainly an important topic on the minds of many voters in Pennsylvania.

In new polling released recently from Quinnipiac University, it shows Trump is supported by 47 percent of likely voters in the state, compared to Harris at 46 percent. In Quinnipiac University’s earlier polling, it showed Harris received 49 percent support compared to Trump’s 46 percent support. The new polling shows a widening of the gender gap with more men supporting Trump than Harris in PA. A separate CNN poll shows Trump and Harris are tied in PA. In other battleground states like Michigan and Wisconsin, Harris has a slight lead.
