Preparations are underway for this year’s annual Shop with a Cop program, hosted by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #83 in Warren County.
Starting shortly after Thanksgiving, the program gives local law enforcement officers a chance to spend time with children in need, shopping together using donations from the community and local businesses to brighten their holidays.
This year, more agencies are joining the effort, with Border Patrol, Homeland Security, Adult Probation and Parole, Pennsylvania State Police, and Conewango Township officers all participating. Organizers emphasize the program’s role in fostering trust and building positive relationships within the community.
“I think it’s very important for the children and the families involved in the program to spend the morning with an officer and get to know them on a personal level,” said one officer involved with the program. “It builds trust and creates positive connections in our community.”
After a morning of shopping, all participants are invited to enjoy a pizza luncheon at Napoli’s Pizza, hosted free of charge by the restaurant’s owner, Stefano Clemente.
Donations to support Shop with a Cop are being accepted through the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #83 and the Conewango Township Police.
Organizers express their gratitude for the community’s ongoing support, which makes this holiday tradition possible.
