The A.N.N.A. Shelter assisted Pennsylvania State Police on Tuesday, October 29 by helping remove 31 Miniature Poodles from a home where they were not being properly cared for.

According to the shelter, the animals were loved by their owner but were lacking medical, grooming and basic care - enough so that police had to step in.

All of the dogs were taken to the shelter and seen by Dr. Zeigler. Once their medical needs were assessed, treatments began.

Team A.N.N.A. staff members worked until 1 a.m. grooming the poodles. The dogs will finish being groomed and will be spayed/neutered on Friday, November 1. The dogs will be ready for adoption soon after.

The shelter says all dogs are Miniature Poodles and range in age from 12 weeks to 7 tears and are between 3-12 pounds. The dogs are described as sweet and loving.

Additionally, prior to this rescue, the shelter helped rescue a dog with severe neck injuries.

The dog had a large industrial sized zip tie tightly secured around his neck. The shelter says it was so tight that it cut through his fur and flesh and sliced into his trachea.

The shelter rushed the dog to emergency surgery where it was discovered he had two bullets in his shoulder from being shot.

The shelter says he is recovering well at the clinic.

Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating this case. If anyone has any information or is interested in adopting him when he is ready, email [email protected]

More information on adoptions can be found on the A.N.N.A. Shelter's website
