Despite the chilly weather, the Warren community came together to give the Warren Dragons High School Cross Country Team a spirited send-off as they headed to the state championships on November 1st.
Groups of students, family members, and friends lined up at Beaty Park, Beaty School, and the YMCA, waving signs and cheering as the team, comprising 14 high school boys and girls, departed under a local police escort.
Jodie Lindell, parent of cross-country runner Sam Lindell, expressed pride in the team’s accomplishments, stating, “This is the first time in 25 years that the boys' team has made it, and this is the first time in history, to our knowledge, that both the boys and girls teams are going to States.”
Jack Passinger, grandparent of Sam Lindell, added, “It’s so great to see these young men and women. They have put so much hard work into this, and we just love them all.”
The 2024 PIAA Cross Country Championships will take place in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, November 2nd.
