The chairmen of the Republican and Democratic parties in Erie County are confident their candidates will perform well.
Both parties have been working to encourage people to vote. Talarico said his party has knocked on "over 100,000 doors" during the campaign.
The Republican party has been writing personalized postcards to people.
People were lined up at the Asbury Barn Recreation Center in Millcreek before polls opened at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
"I would rather wait an hour early than three hours after," said Kim Guthrie, the first voter in line.
She said everyone should vote and "if you don't vote, keep your mouth shut."
