The former chair of the Erie County Republican Party is reacting to Donald Trump's election as 47th president.
Attorney John Mizner held that position for over a dozen years from the 1990s to 2000s.
He said election night was a good night for Republicans up and down the ballot.
Voters in Erie County, he said, are not "beholden to party labels."
"I think the people of Erie County really do look at the candidate and try to make the best decision," Mizner said.
"That's been reflected in election after election."
He said he was "as surprised as everybody else" that Trump won Erie County.
