On Friday, the Wesleyville American Legion Post 571 had its Annual Veterans Day Dinner, ahead of the holiday.
The dinner buffet is one way the Legion Post 571 celebrates those who have served our country. The food was free for veterans. There was a cost for family members and friends who came with.
The dinner buffet started at 4 p.m. and went until 7 p.m., and it's estimated that hundreds of veterans throughout the night came to take part. Chaplin for the 571 Karen Foust said that this event also builds community and lets people learn a little more about their post.
“We do for the fellowship. We do it for people to see what our post is like, and maybe they want to join our post. We do it family style. So, sometimes you don’t sit with the veteran you already know and maybe you can strike up a conversation and find new friends,” Foust said.
