Moving Forward Together After the Election

After a fierce and unprecedented election cycle, the dust is starting to settle. The outcome may have met voter's with mixed emotions.

Praise and worship music filled the halls of abundant life ministries on Sunday morning, the topic of the election was something pastor Ryan Gaines planned to address with his congregates.

"It's definitely going to be the elephant in the room and it's something they are going to want to hear from their pastor", said Pastor Gaines.

He said the results of the election may have led to some people to feeling upset and sad and those emotions are valid. "Number one grieve, feel the way you feel, have your moment, but that key word that you said, how to move forward? You got to move forward. This is life, there are going to be things that happen that do not work put in our favor", explained Pastor Gaines.

The outcome also may have led to people being excited and Pastor Gaines said those emotions shouldn't be taken away from people either.

"If you voted for Mr. Trump and you are happy about that no one should steal your joy or your happiness, things worked out in your favor. But, at the same time, we heard your voice when you voted, but let's see some action", said Pastor Gaines.

He said no matter who people voted for, moving forward, they should continue to treat one another with respect. "Whoever you voted for, be respectful, your family members, your neighbors, your family, your friends, just keep that in mind, no matter which way. I really think with people, it's not just based on who they voted for, that's in disagreement, it's really the moral issue that's really behind it and people's remarks and words that's truly offending other people", said Pastor Gaines.

He said at the end of the day, people should trust in God to look over and guide elected officials. "What we also depend on is for God to touch the heart of our nation leaders and guide them and order their steps, so that they are making the correct decision moving forward in leading our country", said Pastor Gaines.

He it doesn't just end with people voting for elected leaders, rather the work should continue by people taking on roles and being active in their communities as well.
