Two people were found dead in Springfield Township, Erie County, on Friday in what investigators said was a "suicide pact," according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers were called to the 14100 block of Old Lake Rd. after a passerby reported a SUV was backed into a pull off and had been there for a couple days, investigators said.
They found Brenton Stauffenberg, 37, of Rockford, Ill., dead in the driver seat with a gunshot wound to the head, according to state police. He had a .38 caliber revolver in his left hand, which was resting in his lap, troopers said.
The victim - Callie Hughes, 48, of Lake City - was located in the passenger seat, dead from a gunshot wound to the head, according to investigators.
The pair co-authored a suicide pact found in a handwritten letter discovered in the vehicle, state police said.
