The Erie Police Department received $127,000 in Department of Community and Economic Development grant funding to help with the purchase of a new vehicle.
The new vehicle is for the recently re-established Crisis Car unit.
The Crisis Car unit is was re-established in early May of last year in response to the growing number of mental health related calls in the city.
Officers in the unit completed specialized training in mental health crises, substance abuse, domestic violence and suicidal individuals.
