The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is preparing to continue work along the Bayfront Parkway. The construction will require the closure of a portion of the waterfront side of State Street in the City of Erie.

For the past several months, the project's contractor has been working to relocate telecommunication and electric services from above ground to below the parkway and State Street. This includes the placement of large concrete vaults in a deep excavation.

As that portion of work is completed, the next step will be to install underground utility conduits that will complete the loop adjacent to Front Street.

During this step, State St. will be closed between the intersection with the Bayfront Parkway and the intersection with Front St. on the waterfront side.

The closure is expected to go into place on December 4, weather permitting. The closure will last for approximately five weeks.

Drivers can continue to access all businesses on the waterfront side of State St. by using Sassafras St. Extension or Holland St. and Front St.
