Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro has called the state's National Guard to Erie County to help any stranded drivers and make sure emergency responders can get to people who need them, he announced Saturday morning in a post on X.
Shapiro said he also signed a disaster declaration for Erie County to send all necessary resources to the area.
He is asking people to stay off the roads if possible, be safe and follow instructions from local authorities.
Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, State Police and Department of Transportation have been on the ground overnight to provide help as heavy lake-effect snow hits the county, Shapiro said.
