Hose Company 27 and Fairfield Hose Company VFD Provide Emergency Shelter to 100 People

As the snow continues to come down throughout Erie County, Hose Company 27 and the Fairfield Hose Company Volunteer Fire Department continue their mission of ensuring anyone in the area who is stranded or in need of help will receive it.

On Friday night when the storm began, they were able to give shelter to about 100 people and then throughout the weekend they made sure a majority of those people could get home or to their vehicles.

They say they will continue until everyone is safe.

As they provide these services, they also thanked the community for stepping up and donating things like coffee, sweets and food for those in need, even as the lake effect snow warning is still in affect, they are still looking on the bright side.

"This is what we do and this is why we do it our community of Erie County and this side of Pennsylvania is used to the snow, but a lot of these individuals that have been stranded are not from around here and they are not familiar with the area, so just be kind, be courteous, and we will get through it," said Fairfield Hose Company president Jeffrey Hawryliw.
