The American Red Cross is loaning out roof rakes to Erie County residents.

The roof rakes are used clear snow from their homes to help protect the structures and people walking below. Heavy snowfall can cause roof collapses and damage.

To borrow a roof rake, residents must:

  • Call the Red Cross at 814-240-7601 and leave a message with your phone number and name.
  • The Red Cross will call back requesters with details about when and where to pick up rakes. The Red Cross will distribute rakes in the order calls are received.
  • Residents will have 24 hours to pick up and return borrowed rakes.

The Red Cross previously provided this service after a heavy snowfall in Erie in 2017.
