With the recent spike in temperatures and rain expected on Monday, Erie County Executive Brenton Davis is preparing for flooding throughout the county.

"We're working through the municipalities about the potential for flooding," said Davis.  "Obviously, snow gets piled everywhere, gets piled on top of these grates in the streets. That's where your stormwater catch basins are."

With the storms now having passed, the main concern for both Davis and the city of Erie is snow build up on storm drains.

"We're going to start working with the municipalities to ensure as they are working, that they are hauling that snow or pushing that snow away from those grates, that as that snow melts, that water has somewhere to go." said Davis.

The Erie Streets Bureau is also prepared for any flooding.

"We're prepared for that," said Erie Streets Bureau Chief Jeff Gibbens.  "We have a plan in place to work on getting inlets open and things like that.  If we have to stay on from 7:00 a.m.  to 7:00 p.m. we'll do that also."

Meanwhile, Davis is also seeking additional resources from the state.

"We have requested through Gov. Shapiro, the PA National Guard, and the PA Emergency Management Agency to follow on and continue this mission through Monday," said Davis.  "We're waiting on the decision, but we have made the request."
