A deputy shot a man with a gun while responding to a call in Ashtabula County on Wednesday, according to the county sheriff's office.

They were called for an armed man at a residence at 3000 N. Bend Rd. in Saybrook Township around 1:38 p.m.

Deputies confronted the man, who was yelling at them, in a garage attached to the residence, investigators said. The man reached for the handgun and was then shot in the arm by a deputy.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff's office. No deputies were injured.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) was called in to investigate.
