The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs will be awarding a nearly $2 million grant to the Booker T. Washington Center in Erie County.

The center will receive one of 12 grants that were awarded statewide. The grants were awarded to organizations to help with the expansion of drop-in center services for individuals with substance use disorders.

Those services include but are not limited to: substance use disorder treatment, opioid use disorder treatment, support groups, daily essentials (food, restrooms, showers, clothing), harm-reduction services and shelter.

The state department will distribute the grants over a 29 month period from February 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027.
