Erie Ale Works will continue its annual tradition of hosting Festivus for the rest of us this holiday season. This year, the event will be held on Monday, December 23 at Basement Transmissions.
Festivus is based on the season 9 Seinfeld episode title, "The Strike." Festivus is a made-up holiday designed to fight the rampant commercialism and stress incurred by Christmastime.
Festivus will feature the following events:
- Flagship City Comedy’s own Anthony Morelli emcees the event, with some comedy thrown in
- The beloved Festivus pole - unlike a tree it requires no decoration and has a high strength-to-weight ratio
- Feats of Strength - In the episode this entails wrestling, but we host a Seinfeld Trivia game,
focused on seasons one and two of the show with prizes for first, second, and third place finishers - The Airing of Grievances - This is your chance to get something off your chest, anonymously or
not. We’ll read your grievances aloud for the whole audience - you can submit yours ahead at eriealeworks.com/festivus - Themed games
- Beer from Erie Ale Works
- Cocktails from Altered State Distillery
- Food from The Que Abides
- Live music from three local bands: SANIS, Ladders, and Fog Giant
Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the door. Doors to Festivus will open at 5 p.m.
