Millcreek Township is exploring the purchase of the Zem Zem Shrine Club property for a new community center, according to the township.

Township supervisors during Tuesday's meeting approved a letter of intent to purchase land from the Zem Zem Temple at W. 38th St. and Zuck Rd.

The letter of intent has a five-month due diligence period.

The property includes the Shrine Club banquet facility, which is a 40,000 sq. ft. building, and 42 acres of land next to Zuck Park.

The township said the purchase would enhance its parks and recreation offerings and called it a top priority identified by residents in recent surveys.

Millcreek Township officials are posting updates about the potential purchase here.
