Wollongong Disability-Inclusive Festival Of Fun: Accessible 2025 Event Announced
The AHRG Foundation’s Festival Of Fun was a notable success when it debuted in 2023, offering an all-inclusive, disability-friendly day of activities and music for families and individuals. Now, organisers have announced that the event will officially be returning in 2025, and have launched fundraising efforts to ensure that the Wollongong, NSW event is larger and more accessible than ever.

Festival Of Fun 2025 has not yet announced the performers who will be featured at the festival, though a preliminary lineup of activities has been released. The upcoming event will feature an “All About You” exposition designed to promote inclusivity and understanding, alongside an accessible TryMe sports zone, allowing those with disabilities to participate in a range of friendly competitions. The festival will also host a selection of accessible carnival rides.
ARHG Foundation created the Festival Of Fun in 2023 to serve the millions of Australians who are unable to enjoy many types of live events due to accessibility challenges or stigmatisation in society at large. The festival was hosted on the Gold Coast, QLD for the first two years, functioning as an open, inviting environment for those with all levels of ability to share a common space and celebrate people with different abilities together as one.
The Festival Of Fun is the largest participation event for those with disabilities anywhere in Australia. Those unable to attend in person will have the opportunity to watch performances over livestream, expanding the reach of the event even further.
AHRG Foundation director David McFarland states, “I’ve been working in the disability space as a volunteer for over 25 years and what we’ve found is that there are no events like this, especially for families, so we wanted to bring everyone together.”
Festival Of Fun is one of several projects undertaken by the ARHG Foundation to promote disability awareness and inclusivity. Information about additional events – including keynotes, luncheons, and galas – can be found on the organisation’s website.
While the Festival Of Fun 2025 will be held in Wollongong, organisers have ambitions to expand it in coming years, creating more opportunities for those with disabilities world-wide to enjoy these accessible activities.
