Waste Management customers in Crawford Co. are among the many who say their trash hasn’t been picked up in weeks.

Melinda Brown and her fiance said their trash has not been picked up since Dec. 9. They said the pick up date has been changed multiple times. It’s now scheduled for Dec. 23.

Their service has been delayed several times in the last few months, emails to the couple show.

Getting in contact with Waste Management hasn’t been easy.

“They’re very brief when they do respond,” she said. “They don’t return calls so we’ve had no luck with that or text messages. When we send an email, like I said, it’s very brief.”

Despite these issues, Brown said she’s not out to bash the company.

“I think it might be frustrating for them, as well, because they’re probably having problems with employees. If that’s the case, I understand that. But you gotta do right by your customers. Somehow. Someway. You’ve got to find a way.”

We went to Waste Management Tuesday to try to speak with them.

In response, we received a nearly identical statement to one from Monday.

As residents know, WM has experienced service delays throughout the area due to the back-to-back winter weather events that hit the Erie region. Our team members are working to recover all material left at the curb, and we have made significant progress during the first half of this week. The overflow of material, along with the weight of the snow, has created heavier loads for our teams, resulting in additional trips to the landfill, and we have called in additional drivers from surrounding hauling sites to help us recover material. We ask customers to visit www.wm.com for their updated service information. We appreciate the patience and cooperation from residents and communities.

Someone who lives in a Summit Twp. neighborhood said their trash was picked up Thursday morning after weeks of waiting. We reported from that neighborhood this week as part of our coverage.
