Pennsylvania State Police from the Girard station will be cracking down on driving under the influence (DUI) over the New Year's holiday, according to a news release.

The station plans to conduct sobriety checkpoints and use roving patrols in its Erie County patrol area between Dec. 30 and Jan. 2 to deter DUI.

Troopers remind the public to designate a sober driver if you plan to drink alcohol.

They also warn some legal drugs including prescriptions can make it unsafe to drive.
