The holiday spirit is shining bright across Erie as neighborhoods come alive with spectacular Christmas light displays. Tony Sitter has been designing captivating light displays for most of his life, and this marks the third house he's transformed, this time in Millcreek, turning it into a cherished family tradition.
Tony said, "I've decorated all my life, ever since I was a child, when my grandfather started doing it. We carried on the tradition. When we moved into this neighborhood, our original neighbor was really into lights, just like we are, and together we would light up the whole neighborhood. They moved, but the new neighbors were just as enthusiastic. They said, 'go ahead and light up our yard, we don’t mind,' so we light up all three yards now."
The Sitter family uses 115,000 lights to bring the Christmas spirit to life in the neighborhood, dedicating an incredible amount of time to their festive transformation. Tony explained, "We start in the middle of October, getting everything set up. We try not to put up too much before Halloween."
For Kevin Schlosser, this holiday tradition is just beginning. Despite setbacks from a Thanksgiving storm, the hard work has paid off. Hundreds of families from across the area have gathered to admire the dazzling displays. Kevin shared, "With the big Thanksgiving storm that hit, we were about a week behind because everything was buried under four feet of snow. But it all came together, thanks to all the family and friends who helped make this happen."
