The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has lifted the boil water advisory for North East Borough as of Thursday, borough officials announced.

The advisory was issued after slight tears were found in the finished water cover at Fairchild Reservoir.

The cover has been repaired and certified, the reservoir has been evacuated, and the entire distribution system has been flushed, according to the borough.

North East Borough officials said they continued to monitor water quality prior to, during and after thw advisory, and it has produced clean test results certified by an accredited laboratory.
