Warren County's annual Shop with A Cop program has concluded, bringing joy to hundreds of children in our community.
This year, over 200 children participated, making it the largest shop with a cop event to date.
“We had an absolutely great year," stated Charles Andersen, Conewango Township Police patrolman. "It was the biggest year that we have had so far. Thanks to the generous support from the community, we were able to take 223 kids shopping. ”
The event, hosted by the Warren County Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 83, involved a wide range of community partners, including the Conewango Township Police, Pennsylvania State Police, Warren County Sheriff's Office, North Warren Volunteer Fire Department, the City of Warren Police, Emergycare, and Napoli’s Pizza who once again provided a free lunch for all of the participants.
“It was awesome," commented Stefano Clemente, owner of Napoli’s Pizza. "We really like to do this for the kids and it’s growing bigger every year. I hope we get to do this forever."
“It was rewarding, seeing the kids so happy going through Walmart, picking up some toys and necessities,” added Scott Neiswonger, Warren County Sheriff. "It was a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays and get involved with the community we serve."
As holiday celebrations continue, law enforcement are urging everyone to prioritize safety. With increased traffic on the roads, officials are emphasizing the importance of responsible driving.
“There will be extra patrols during the holidays season," stated Sheriff Neiswonger. "We want to make sure that we are out there keeping everybody safe that is on the highways.”
"I know we say this every year, but every year it is important," Patrolman Andersen said. "Slow down on the roadways, get to where you are going safely, and drive sober. Have a great time but don't let one bad decision ruin your live or the life of someone else.”
