New Year's Resolution: Staying Consistent in 2025
As the new year approaches, many people head to the gym to kickstart their resolutions. We spoke with Quinn Hood, a personal trainer at Erie Fitness Now, who has been coaching for three years. He shares the importance of hitting the gym this year, saying, "I think exercise is the number one thing you can do for your health. Building muscle is so good for your bodily function, your immune system, your mental health. So, the benefits of exercise pretty much outweigh everything else you can do. So, if there's one thing you can do this year, make exercise a priority."
According to Forbes, a study shows that by the end of January, 80% of New Year's resolutions will be abandoned. Quinn gave us insights on why this specific New Year's resolution commonly fails. He said, "It's a perfectionism issue. People want to be perfect. People think they need to get in the gym five to six days a week, and as soon as they can't do that, as soon as life gets in the way, they're like, 'Might as well not do anything.' But if you can maintain that two days a week of strength training and get your daily movement, putting those small minimum targets you can hit every single week, it will keep you in here and keep you going, and you'll probably get great results."
