General McLane Mourns Passing of Band Director, Educator
The General McLane School District community is mourning the passing of legendary band director and educator John Marszalek, according to a Facebook post Monday.
"Mr. Marszalek dedicated decades of his life to inspiring students, shaping young musicians, and building the Lancer Marching Band and instrumental music program into a source of pride for our community," the post said. "His passion for music, education, and excellence left an indelible mark on countless lives."
The school district credits Marszalek with making the Lancer Marching Band more than a program, turning it into a family.
"His tireless efforts, unwavering commitment, and love for his students fostered a legacy that will continue to resonate for generations," the post said.
The viewing is Friday at McLane Church from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. There will be a brief viewing and funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Saturday morning.
