National Fuel customers in Pennsylvania could see higher gas bills starting August 2025.

The company has filed its annual gas cost projection with state regulators, forecasting an 18.46% increase in monthly bills. That’s about $13.49 more per month, or $161.90 annually, for typical residential customers.

The rise is due to expected higher natural gas prices and transmission costs. National Fuel says it’s required to pass these costs directly to customers without any markup. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission must review and approve the rates before they take effect.

Meanwhile, starting in January 2025, a new charge for infrastructure improvements will appear on bills.

This Distribution System Improvement Charge will add about 17 cents per month for the average customer. It’s aimed at enhancing system safety and reliability.

Both charges will be updated quarterly to reflect market changes.
