PennDOT Reduces Speed Limit on Interstates in Erie County

PennDOT has reduced the speed limit to 45 miles per hour on all the interstates in Erie County.

They include:

• Interstate 79 from Exit 166 (Route 6N, Albion/Edinboro) to the ending point in the City of Erie
• Interstate 86 from the New York state line to the I-90 interchange
• Interstate 90 from the Ohio state line to the New York state line

Commercial vehicles must stay in the right lane.

Crews are working to treat the roads, but PennDOT says their focus is on keeping roads passable, not entirely clear of ice and snow.

The restrictions will stay in place until onditions improve.
