The Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center has launched its January Miles Challenge, a fundraising initiative aimed at supporting children and families impacted by trauma and abuse in Warren and Forest Counties.

"So many people want to help out in the community, exercise more, and get healthy for the new year, so one of our board members came up with this challenge," explained Melissa McLean, Executive Director of Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center. "It's a great way to combine so many things in an event that benefits and impacts local children."

The independent nonprofit organization relies on grants and community donations to provide critical services, including forensic interviews, advocacy programs, prevention education, and the emotional support offered by Tiger, the center’s fully trained facility dog.

Participants in the challenge are encouraged to walk, run, cycle, or swim throughout January while setting mileage and fundraising goals. Teams are still being accepted, and anyone can join online. Tiger, the center’s therapy dog, even has his own team, "Tiger’s Trackers," where individuals are invited to join and contribute to the cause.

"So many times we hear people say that they want to help but don't know how," stated McLean. "This Challenge is an easy way to get involved. Whether you are joining a group or contributing through a donation, everything helps. It could be one dollar or one-thousand dollars, each dollar makes an impact here in our local community."

Donations raised will stay local, directly benefiting families in need. All details about the January Miles Challenge, including how to sign up, can be found here.
