State Police Provide Update on Efforts to Stop Illegal Firearm Purchases
Pennsylvania State Police are cracking down on illegal firearm purchase attempts.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, they investigated 299,229 cases. 3,772 were denied, and 1,181 were referred to law enforcement.
A total of 32 people were also found to have active arrest warrants during the process.
Lying on forms or using fake IDs to try to buy guns is considered a third-degree felony under Pennsylvania law.
The Pennsylvania Instant Check System flagged these cases, which were then referred to law enforcement agencies, including state police, local departments and the ATF, for further investigation.
