Ripley Man Killed in Crash Involving Snow Plow on Route 89 in Greenfield Township
The driver of a SUV died in a crash with a PennDOT snow plow in Greenfield Township, Erie County, on Saturday.
It was reported on Route 89 south of Townline Rd. around 2:39 p.m.
The Jeep SUV was heading northbound, and the plow was going southbound when snow blew from a west field, state police said.
The blowing snow blocked the view of the 19-year-old man driving the plow truck, which then braked, according to troopers. That's when investigators said the Jeep hit the plow.
The driver of the SUV - identified as Thomas Dedinsky, 74, of Ripley - was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police. A passenger in the SUV suffered minor injuried.
The plow driver was not injured, troopers said.
The crash closed Route 89 between Townline Rd. and Rich Hill Rd. for several hours.
