A.N.N.A. Shelter's First Rescue of 2025 Expected to Make Full Recovery
The A.N.N.A. Shelter has rescued its first dog of 2025. On Monday night, the shelter received a call from a man saying he found a dead dog in his driveway and asked what to do with its body.
The shelter advised the man to bring the dog to the shelter so they could see if it was chipped and try to locate an owner.
Once the dog made it to the shelter, the director was shocked to find the dog was still alive. The dog was barely alive.
Team A.N.N.A. members rushed into action. According to a Facebook post, the dog was freezing to death and was completely emaciated with zero body fat.
The dog's heart rate was so faint you could barely hear it, and her temperature did not even register on the thermometer.
The shelter's vet administered treatment and said the next 8-10 hours are crucial. The A.N.N.A. Shelter will provide an update on her condition later today.
According to the latest Facebook post from the shelter, the dog who they are calling Phoenix is alive and on her way to a full recovery.
The shelter says she has a long way to go but she is up and wagging her tail.
The shelter's vet believes Phoenix will make a full recovery. Phoenix is about 10 months old, and based off her vitals she was about 10-15 minutes from death when she arrived at the shelter.
Officer Duckett is working with the Erie Police Department to investigate the case and get justice for Phoenix.
