Warren Dragons Cheer Team Wins District 10 Title
The Warren Area High School cheerleading team is celebrating a major accomplishment after winning the District 10 title in the 3A Small Varsity Division.
The championship, held at McDowell High School on January 4th, featured 11 teams, including McDowell, Hickory, and Wilmington.
The Dragons impressed the judges with their performance, securing the top spot, and advancing to the state competition later this month.
“We’re so proud of everyone's hard work and dedication,” stated Head Coach Melissa Feaster. “They really went all out and owned the mat, and we are very proud of our team and what they did."
"The team received a zero-technicality score, which is very difficult to get," said Assistant Coach Wendy Carrington. "When they came off of the mat, everyone was smiling and excited that they had truly done their best."
In a change from previous years, the state championship will not be held in Hershey. Despite the adjustment, the team is eager to showcase their talent on a new stage.
“I'm a little nervous about the new environment because I'm so used to being at Hershey, but I feel confident that we will do well," said Annie Carrington, WAHS Cheer member.
"It's unexplainable, it was just the best feeling ever," explained Madelyn Hertzog, when asked about winning the District 10 Title.
"It was especially nice because we won our freshman year and now, we've won it again our senior year, so it's a nice way to wrap it up," added Senior Hailey Graham.
The state competition will take place at the end of January at the Santander Arena in Reading, PA, where the Dragons are determined to build on their success.
