The Springfield Volunteer Fire Department is alerting residents of a new scam. 

According to the fire department, a bad actor is calling individuals claiming to be with the fire department asking for donations to the department's fundraiser. 

The fire department says it has never and will never solicit donations over the phone. The department is advising residents to not give out any personal information out.
