United Way of Erie County Announces President's Retirement and Succession Plan
The United Way of Erie has promoted Mike Jaruszewicz to Executive Vice President of the organization, effective January 1, 2025. Jaruszewicz previously served as United Way's Senior Vice President, Community Impact.
Additionally, the Board of Directors approved a succession plan in December that will have Jaruszewicz assume the role of President/CEO of the organization effective January 1, 2026.
The current President/CEO, Laurie Root, will retire at the end of 2025.
Both Jaruszewicz and Root have been with the organization since 2010.
“We are extremely grateful to Laurie for the transformative impact she’s had on United Way and our community,” said Katie Jones, United Way’s Board Chair. “Her leadership has positioned the organization to effectively and thoughtfully work toward the mission of crushing poverty through the nationally recognized Community School Model."
The pair will work closely together this year to assure a smooth transition.
