What to Expect from President Biden's Farewell Address
President Joe Biden will address the nation one final time tonight in his farewell address.
Dr. Jeff Bloodworth of Gannon University thinks as the president addresses the nation, his legacy and time in office won't be forgotten. "Hopefully what we remember about Joe Biden is that he is a good decent human being that we don't often get in the White House, it's like Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter", said Dr. Bloodworth."
In the Wednesday night address, Dr. Bloodworth believes President Biden will highlight his accomplishments, call for unity, and discuss the Trump administration.
"I think he is going to layout some boundaries about when it is acceptable to oppose the new administration, like unity of course. He's the legitimately elected president, but these are the bounds from the democratic perspective that are opposed to Donald Trump."
Dr. Bloodworth believes how the president conveys his message will also be remembered. "How spry is he? He struggles to give a speech. It's only effective if you can deliver it."
What comes after President Biden leaves the White House for the final time? Dr. Bloodworth thinks a presidential library could be on the horizon. As Dr. Bloodworth explained, "What presidential libraries do is, they are warehouses for your papers. This is where researchers can go and burnish your legacy. I think Joe Biden has always been driven by a sense of not being appreciated and not being taken seriously as a heavy weight and for future historians to appreciate your legacy and the only way you are going to get that is presidential library."
Dr. Bloodworth said he wouldn't be surprised if President Biden also comes out with a memoir after his time in office.
