The Presque Isle Partnership is partnering with several organizations to host a Winter Discovery Day on Saturday, February 1. 

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Waterworks Area on Presque Isle State Park. 

“We're proud to partner with such great organizations to bring this day of discovery to Presque Isle once again,” said Jon DeMarco, Executive Director of the Presque Isle Partnership. “Winter Discovery Day offers a unique opportunity for all to get outside, try new activities, and appreciate all that Presque Isle has to offer year-round.”

Winter Discovery Day will feature the following activities: 

  • Ice Fishing – Try your luck at ice fishing with the S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie. No fishing license is required, and equipment will be provided. (Ice fishing will only be offered if conditions are safe.)
  • Sled Dog Demonstrations – Meet the amazing sled dogs of Red Sky Working Siberians and watch them in action.
  • ($) Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides – Take a scenic ride around the Waterworks area and enjoy the winter beauty of the park, brought to you by John May Farm Activities. ($3 per person; weather permitting)
  • Birding Craft Activity – Join Presque Isle Audubon at Shelter #1 for fun bird-themed crafts & education.
  • Snowshoe Tryouts – Explore nearby trails on snowshoes with DCNR Environmental Education Specialists. (Weather permitting)
  • Presque Isle Lighthouse Open House – Visit the Lighthouse from 11 AM to 3 PM for a free Valentine’s craft and warm beverages. Enjoy complimentary access to the house museum and gift shop. Please note, tower climbs are not available.
  • ($) Food and Hot Chocolate – Underdog BBQ will be serving up delicious food and hot chocolate for
    purchase at the Rotary Pavilion.
  • ($) Big Green Screen Theatre Special – Take advantage of $5 discounted admission all day at the Big Green Screen Theatre in the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. SHOWTIMES: Wings Over Water (10:00 AM), Superpower Dogs (1:00 PM), and The Last Reef: Cities Beneath the Sea (11:30 AM & 2:30 PM).

Some outdoor activities are dependent on weather conditions and may be modified or canceled.
