We all need a little guidance sometimes... right? In this week's Giving You the Business Report, Erie News Now shares the story of a longtime local sports and communications professional's transition to assisting area businesses.

A coach is often remembered, especially if it's a parent taking on the role. Matt Bresee took on that task in youth sports.

Now, he has a different coaching position, one that will lead companies in the region to grow and prosper.

That's what he hopes to accomplish with ActionCOACH, a global business coaching organization.

"I am bringing the tools of Action Coach that are in 83 countries around the globe, 1100 franchises," said Matt. "I'm bringing all that intellectual property and proven practices here to Northwest PA."

In early April, Bresee announced the launch of his venture in Northwest PA - the first ActionCOACH presence in this area.

He says he went through training to become certified to help for-profit companies -- ideally small to medium-sized ones -- and non-profits. But how?

"They may have challenges with time, team, or money," said Matt. "They might be, as the business owner, stuck working in their business so much and don't have the opportunity to work on their business."

One-on-one services are offered, plus a basic Masters Class for small businesses to use their tools for success.

"But also a 12-week Master Class program for leadership, such as management and sales. And sometimes those are appropriate for larger organizations," said Matt.

He's worked for his share of larger organizations including , Erie Insurance and LECOM. He also served as the President of the former Erie BayHawks basketball team in the NBA Developmental League after spending seven years with the Erie SeaWolves.

And now with grown children, the father of two hopes to help businesses grow too.
