Erie News Now Sunrise is excited to kick off another year of How Cool Is Your School.

The theme for this year’s contest is the power of music. Music brings us together, whether you’re into classical, hip-hop, rock, jazz, pop or something else, there’s a space for you. We learn teamwork, creativity and confidence all through the power of music. We invite you to create a one-minute, 30-second (1:30) video telling us how your school is cool using music.

Remember, be creative. Each video will be judged on creativity, focus, quality, time requirement, and rate of difficulty. Submissions should not include any copyrighted video or music. Please submit the video as a MP4 file or YouTube link.

The deadline for all video submissions is Thursday, Oct. 16, at 5 p.m.

The top four winning schools will be announced on Erie News Now Sunrise during the 6 a.m. hour the following week.

The four winning schools will receive $250 from New Motors Subaru and New Motors Volkswagen and the opportunity to host Erie News Now Sunrise for a live broadcast.

All four winning videos will also be submitted into an online voting contest to win a $5,000 TV ad campaign for the non-profit charity of their choice and an iPad. You must submit your non-profit* of choice with your video submission, so make sure to pick your non-profit early. Voting will start Oct. 24.

  • First place: $5,000 TV ad campaign for a nonprofit of choice and iPad
  • Second place: iPad
  • Third place: Class pizza party
  • Fourth place: Class pizza party
