Brittany Tombaugh is the assistant manager at Primanti Bros. Restaurant & Bar in the Millcreek Mall Complex.

No job is off limits for her. 

She serves and even cooks when needed.

It's a place where sports figures are on display - and not just players from Pittsburgh teams, where Primanti Bros. is headquartered.

The entire tri-state area is embraced with Buffalo and Cleveland icons on the wall, and well known Erie natives, too.

On one of the walls, a mural serves as a conversation piece for customers.

"We come here once or twice a month because we're at the mall, walking usually," said customer John Artello of Lake City.  "The food is good here." 

Primanti Bros. prides themselves on their "almost famous" sandwiches, as they call them. You might know them best for those massive sandwiches with the white bread, the provolone, the meat, the coleslaw and the French fries.

Of course, they serve up drinks, pizzas, burgers and so many more menu items.

Helpings are hearty and have a long history.

Primanti Bros. dates back to 1933 when it opened its first location in Pittsburgh's Strip District.

There's now locations in five different states.

The one at the Millcreek Mall opened nearly seven years ago.

General manager Josh Garrity has managed the Millcreek Mall location since day one. He knows the importance of the location.

"It's almost like Erie is a little Pittsburgh," said Garrity. "We're so close and we have so many people coming from Pittsburgh coming to Erie and doing traveling, or going to the water. They see it and we're right off 79. It's really nice because you get all those travelers."

Garrity tells Erie News Now the bar business is strong, but the food is the big draw.

Tombaugh says it's also a great place to work. 

"It's a good atmosphere to be in," says Tombaugh. "It's very positive. We have a really great morale and a really low turnover rate." 

Words of praise for a company with a proud history that dates back nearly 90 years.
