Police have arrested a man in a homicide in the City of Erie earlier this month.

Robert Esquilin-Ortiz, 24, was arraigned Wednesday on charges including homicide, aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a weapon, loitering/prowling at nighttime and 11 counts for firing a gun in an occupied building.

He was denied bail and taken to the Erie County Prison.

The deadly shooting happened inside a home in the 2900 block of French St. just before 1 a.m. June 3.

Quran Sims, 26, died from multiple gunshot wounds, likely at close range, according to the coroner following an autopsy Monday.

Police found Sims dead in his room with multiple gunshot wounds including to his head.
