A Greenville man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Mercer County on Monday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

It happened on Scofield Rd. in Sandy Creek Township around 5:30 p.m.

Joseph Kerekes, 42, was traveling northeast at a high speed in a Ford F-150 truck when the vehicle started to leave the road while going around a curve, investigators said.

The truck hit and severed a utility pole before hitting a tree with its front end and catching fire, according to troopers.

Kerekes was unable to free himself from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
