A serendipitous moment led to a local family opening an ice cream and luncheon spot right along the banks of the Allegheny River in Warren County.

The Hoffman family were offered the chance of a lifetime, to open an ice cream shop and kitchen on the Allegheny River, after a previous business was unable to do so.

The owners of the River’s Edge said that it truly was a split-second decision, but after 30 days of hard work, they were ready to launch their business. The family-owned ice cream shop now features 24 different soft serve flavors and Hershey’s hard-serve ice cream with lactose free options.

“We’ll be offering gourmet hotdogs and smash burgers. Our hotdogs will be named after our family’s dogs," said Kiersten Hoffman. "We will also offer salads, build your own paninis, deep fried foods, appetizers, and things like that.”

Despite opening late in the year, business has been booming for the family. They plan to build a deck out back for kayakers and canoers and will be featuring live music nights as well.
